Umpiring has always been a part of Mike DiMuro’s life. His father, Lou DiMuro was an American League umpire from 1963-1982. “I always new I wanted to umpire, ever since the first time I worked a little league game at the age of 13”, says DiMuro.

Mike DiMuro enters his 7th full season as a Major League Baseball Umpire.
After attending the University of San Diego where he earned a BA in Communication Studies, Mike graduated at the top of his class at the Jim Evans Academy of Professional Umpiring and served as an instructor there until 1997. DiMuro emphasizes his education, “Getting your education is one of the most important things that you can do.” “I am asked all the time by young men and women about attending umpire school, and the most important advice I offer is to finish your education first.”
In 1997 Mike was chosen to represent Major League Baseball as an umpire in the Japanese Major Leagues. He became the first American to work regular season games in the Japanese Central League. That year he also worked his first Major League Baseball game in Kansas City against the Boston Red Sox. Over the next two years he served as a vacation-relief umpire in the American League. In June of 1999 he was promoted and named to the regular staff as an American League Umpire. In 2000 he was chosen to work the National League Divisional Series in St. Louis and New York. In 2005 he was selected to work third base at the All Star Game in Detroit. He is currently in his seventh season as a Major League Umpire.
Mike has taken his passion for flying and his calling to help others by serving as a pilot for the organization, Angel Flight. Mike, a FAA licensed Commercial Pilot, hopes to continue his involvement with the group and reach out to even more children by creating opportunities with Blue For Kids.
Mike is married to wife, Elisabeth and lives in Colorado with their three children: Megan, Ryan and Michael.
